Golf GPS

Are you a golfer, or do you have a golfer in your life? If so, a Golf GPS is probably one the best electronic devices they will certainly appreciate. I’m a year-round golfer here in Chicago and they call me a “Snowbird” on my visits to South Carolina and one of my favorite gifts ever has been my Garmin Approach G5 GPS. I had borrowed a golf GPS from a friend while on a golf trip to Charleston, SC and when I came back to Chicago I raved about how awesome the device was (nothing like dropping deliberate hints) and my fiancé went and purchased mine.

I’ve never been a great golfer but I do enjoy the game. I’ve been playing for about 15 years and for 14 of those years my handicap was never lower than 18. It’s easy to attribute that to my poor vision but now that I have this awesome Golf GPS, my handicap has dropped to an 11. Having the GPS is like having access to your own private caddie, less the fee and the tip.

Best Golf GPS

The device I borrowed from my friend was a Sky Caddie and though it didn’t have all the bells and whistles that the G5 has, it had enough to convince me that I needed a Golf GPS for my game.  When you’re shopping for a new Golf GPS there are a few things that you should be concerned with.  First, it should be easy to use because we golfers want to play golf not fiddle with a device for 10 minutes between shots.  It should have unlimited free golf course maps with free updates and have NO annual membership fees.  The device should be able to keep score, and track shot distances from anywhere on the course.  Least of all, it should be small, lightweight, and waterproof.

The following devices all meet the above conditions and are a safe bet to be a hit in your golfers life.

·         Garmin Approach G5

·         Callaway uPro Go

·         SkyCaddie SGX

·         Golf Buddy World Platinum

·         Sonocaddie V500

Great little gadgets that will definitely help improve a game. They're best used when the fairway is a dogleg or interrupted by traps and hazards.

Golf is a good walk spoiled - Mark Twain - I'm not a golfer, but I'm eager to learn. Thanks for sharing, voted up, marked useful and shared.
