I’ve been sharing all my secrets here on Hubpages for quite some time now and I don’t see myself slowing down anytime soon. I think that one of the great benefits of being a member here on HP is being part of such a giving community.
When I started writing here back in April, 2009, I never thought I would make Hubpages a permanent fixture in my online presence. But the fact is, HP and the entire community has made it possible for me to continue learning a sharing my SEO knowledge, which I am always happy to do.
There are so many talented people here on Hubpages, I would be remiss for attempting to name all those I have had the pleasure of associating with. So, I’ll just say thank you to the community as a whole and get on with the show.
Blog SEO vs Article SEO
Many of you know that I am always searching for and sharing the best ways to earn money online. I have written a series of hubs on how I earn online. I have also shared many of my methods of promoting my online presence.
One thing that I guess I haven’t made completely clear is that all the methods I have talked about to promote websites and blogs can also work for promoting individual articles and hubs. However, promoting an individual article or hub may have far better results than promoting an entire website or blog. But on the other hand, some methods of promoting websites and blogs will have little or no affect on individual articles and hubs.
For example, in this hub I talk about using press releases to increase your traffic and build backlinks. A press release is most often used to promote an entire website or blog rather than an individual article or hub. If you’re going to use press releases here on HP then use it to link to your profile. Your profile links to all of your hubs and you will get the same benefit. Use RSS syndicators to promote your individual articles and hubs. Every time you submit an RSS feed for syndication you are also creating a backlink.
In this hub I talk in depth about backlinks. I describe how to make anchor text backlinks for different platforms and also give a few free high PR sites to place backlinks on. If you’re paying attention to the SEO “gurus” then you have probably heard that it is important to get relevant backlinks to your sites and I’m not going to argue that. It’s true, the more relevant the site is that you’re trying to link to then the better it is for your site. But getting relevant backlinks is only part of the SEO equation. Getting inbound links to your sites should be the goal of every person that is marketing or promoting online.
Understanding Backlinks
Look closely at the image above. The image is a 3-D rendering of the World Wide Web and it sort of looks like a cluster of stars in a galaxy. The WWW is actually software that allows users to navigate their way around the internet. The WWW provides sort of a map to connect the global array of networks. Now think of backlinks like markers or pointers on that map. As search engines access the WWW with their own software called spiders they search and recognize those markers and pointers and when someone does a query for a certain keyword or keyword phrase, the search engines can then display all the markers and pointers they find.
The more markers and pointers that point back to one location, the better that location stands in the search engine results pages (SERP's). When markers and pointers are coming from high page rank (PR) sites, known as authority sites, they get a little more preference than those coming from non authority sites.
The problem for those that are new to online marketing is getting backlinks from high PR sites. Your new site or article which has little or no traffic is going to be of no benefit to those sites. Luckily, there is a back way in to many high PR sites.
I have a small e-report that I sell on my blogs and also on Ebay that gives you access to over 120 high PR sites and it also shows you how to mine those sites to get additional high PR backlinks. This one report can help you get hundreds of high PR backlinks. I’ve sold a couple hundred copies of this report in the last few months for prices ranging between $45 and $15 but now I want to give it away…sort of.
I’ve come up with an idea to virtually give away this report with all my high PR backlinks to anyone that wants them, and I don’t know why you wouldn’t want them. I’m not going to charge you a single penny for them but I am going to ask you to do some simple tasks for me that will probably take you less than 20 minutes if you do it all at one sitting. If you’re interested in getting my report for free then check out my offer.
Edit Jan. 4th, 2011: the report I discussed above is not available at this time. I am updating the information and will again be available soon.

This seems the answer to many of my problems. Thank you very much and I too will come back to go through it thorouhly. Great hub.
Another great hub!
Thank you very much for a very interesting information. I am confused about the backlink. Does any backlink take away the rights of my article or just article directories?
Very informative. I am still trying to figure out the whole backlink mystery. Takes time with so much to learn. Your ten years of online experience is certainly a good resource. Thanks
Hi!
I looked at the link, I'm willing to complete the 8 steps. How will you know when I have completed them and how do you go about getting the RP list to me?
Dana
Better hurry... Project Payday expires Thursday December 10 at midnight. They also require a credit card.
Project Payday explicitly says "Offer expires Thursday December 10 at midnight", highlighted in yellow. At http://heyworldimhere.com/free-seo, regarding Project Payday, it says "be sure to cancel your trial offer so they don't charge your credit card."
I selected the "Own your own toy store" from Project Payday and it wanted a credit card to charge a $1.95 processing fee.
"Well check back on the 11th and I'll bet it says it will end on at midnight on the 12th. "
My point precisely.
Nice hub. Very useful information. Didn't have the 20 mins free but sent you $15 through paypal Richard for adding such great value for such a small price! Neil

Hello
I read your article with great interest and then printed it out for closer scrutiny. I'm keen to find more outlets to promote my work, so far mainly travel. I looked at the link for articledirectory but they didn't have a specific travel category. I scanned their submission requirements which appeared to give them TOTAL control over my work so quickly left them and looked at your site 411article.com. I was delighed to see you have a travel section. But, then when I looked at your submission requirements and they looked identical to those at articledirectory. I can understand websites having similar requirements, but the same? That seems very odd to me. Is your site an off-shoot of theirs?
I am keen to get a wider audience but I don't want to hand over "all rights" which is how it seems when I read the "small print".
